Privacy PolicyLast updated August 7, 2026

This Policy explains how Inicial, Co. collects and uses personal data when you use Lurk. Inicial, Co. is the controller of that data.

1. Information we collect

Account and profile information. When you use a sign-in provider, we receive information such as your provider account ID, verified email address, name, and profile image. We also store your Lurk name, profile, preferences, linked providers, and account settings.

Content and social activity. We store content and interactions you create, including pages, files, messages, pins, reactions, relationships, memberships, and blocks. Visibility depends on the choices you and other members make.

Billing information. Our payment processor collects and processes payment details for Lurk Plus. We receive a customer ID and information about subscription status, plan, billing period, cancellation, and payment success or failure. We do not store full card numbers.

Device and usage information. We collect your IP address, browser and device information, session identifiers, approximate network location, referring pages, requested URLs, feature activity, and operational logs. Lurk also stores some preferences and unfinished drafts in your browser.

Safety and support information. We collect blocks, reports, removal requests, selected reasons, optional details, relevant URLs or content references, enforcement records, appeals, support messages, and information needed to investigate abuse, security incidents, or legal requests.

We receive information from you, your browser or device, people who interact with you, sign-in and payment providers, and third-party features you choose to use. An account needs a verified email address, sign-in identifier, and Lurk name. Other information is optional, but some features cannot work without the information they need.

2. How we use information

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage accounts, and show content at the visibility you choose;
  • provide social, discovery, communication, billing, and support features;
  • remember settings and synchronize activity across sessions;
  • operate, secure, and improve Lurk, including detecting spam, fraud, harmful links, abuse, and attempts to evade enforcement;
  • review reports, enforce our rules, preserve evidence, and protect people and the service;
  • process payments, manage Lurk Plus, and feature public content in Lurk's promotion;
  • communicate about support, security, material policy changes, and the service; and
  • comply with law, legal process, and valid requests from authorities or rights holders.

We do not use member content to train generative AI models.

3. Legal bases for processing

Where law requires a legal basis, we rely on our contract to provide Lurk and Lurk Plus. We rely on legitimate interests to operate, secure, improve, and promote Lurk and enforce its rules. We also process data to meet legal obligations, protect vital interests, or with consent. You may withdraw consent for future processing.

We do not make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Public content and member choices

Public pages and profiles can be viewed, copied, indexed, saved, or shared by other people and services. Friends-only or private settings limit Lurk's own display of content, but no access control is perfect. Do not publish information you are not prepared to share with the selected audience.

A site owner controls interactions in their own webspace and may block or remove visitors. Your own blocks affect how Lurk allows the blocked account to interact with you.

5. Who receives information

We disclose personal information only as needed to operate Lurk:

  • Infrastructure and technical service providers process account information, content, files, device information, and operational logs to provide hosting, storage, security, media processing, communications, and technical support.
  • Payment processors receive billing and transaction information when you buy Lurk Plus.
  • Your selected sign-in provider receives information needed to connect and secure your account.
  • Communications and moderation providers receive report details and account information needed to notify reviewers and manage connected membership benefits.
  • Media, embed, and search providers receive search terms, requested content, or connection information when you use or load their features.
  • Authorities, courts, rights holders, and affected parties may receive information when law or valid process requires it, or when needed to address fraud, abuse, security, safety, or legal claims.
  • A successor may receive information in a merger, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.

We require service providers to protect personal information and use it only to provide their services to us.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and Lurk does not run third-party behavioral ads.

6. Cookies and browser storage

Lurk uses cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in, security, interface preferences, drafts, and core service operation. These are not used for third-party behavioral advertising. Blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in and other features from working.

7. How long we keep information

Account data and active content are generally kept while your account exists. Sessions and temporary verification data expire. Operational logs, caches, and backups are kept according to operational, security, and provider needs.

Reports, blocks, moderation records, appeals, and related evidence may remain after content or an account is deleted while needed to detect repeat abuse, enforce our rules, preserve evidence, defend legal claims, or comply with law.

We may keep information longer when a legal hold, investigation, dispute, or valid legal obligation requires it. Other information may be deleted or de-identified when it is no longer needed.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account in Settings. This removes the active account, site, uploads, messages, social connections, linked sign-in identities, and payment processor customer record, and it ends Lurk Plus immediately. Deletion cannot recall copies made by other people or services. The limited records described above may remain.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data; object to or restrict processing; withdraw consent; and appeal a denied privacy request. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Email legal@inicial.co to make a request. Describe the request and the Lurk account involved. You may use an authorized agent where law allows. We may verify identity and may deny or limit a request where law permits. Use the same address to appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

10. International processing

Inicial, Co. and its providers process data in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different privacy laws. Where required, we use an approved transfer mechanism or another lawful safeguard. Email legal@inicial.co to ask about these safeguards.

11. Children

Lurk is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact legal@inicial.co. We will investigate and delete the account and data where required.

12. Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data. No online service is completely secure. Protect your sign-in account and tell us at support@inicial.co if you suspect unauthorized access.

13. Changes

We may update this Policy. For a material change, we will give reasonable advance notice by email or in Lurk unless an urgent legal, safety, or security change requires faster action. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
